MIGUEL

By Gary Sosnick 1998

The moon shines but you're not there
to run my fingers through your hair.
Oh little poor one, you've gone away
across the river to a better day.
I want to see you tomorrow.
I will always think about your darling, but until then.

Miguel, my heart is true.
Miguel, my love for you.
We'll meet again at the cathedral
and dream of the house with a view of the sea.

The postman brings your letter for me.
With a lot of money we'll plant a seed.
In the spring we'll dance and sing.
With jewels and silver that you will bring.
Oh how long will it take?
I will wait for your return to me, but until then.

Miguel, my heart is true.
Miguel, my love for you.
We'll meet again at the cathedral
and dream of the house in the mountains.

The forest is green, the sky is blue.
In a little while I'll be with you.
Oh what a beautiful day to wear my brand new dress!
There's going to be a party.
Hurry up, come back to me, but until then.

Miguel, my heart is true.
Miguel, my love for you.
We'll meet again at the cathedral
and dream of the house by the waterfall.

My second favorite song from Gift from the ones I wrote. This was the last song we brought to the Gift recording sessions. Of course, the Spanish and English are fused together in the vocals. There's a lot going on in this song beginning with the claves. Lots of guitars.
